Privacy Policy for Ads Assistant App

Effective Date: May/2025

Introduction

Welcome to Ads Assistant! This Privacy Policy describes how Ads Assistant (referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Facebook platform application. Ads Assistant is a tool designed to help users generate ideas and concepts for their own advertising campaigns by analyzing competitors’ ads via Facebook’s Ads Library API. We are committed to protecting your privacy and want you to understand that we do not collect personal data from our users. In fact, you do not need to log in with Facebook or create an account to use Ads Assistant. This means you can access our services without providing any personal information, and all data we utilize is publicly available data from Facebook’s Ads Library.

By using Ads Assistant, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please refrain from using the app. We may update this Policy from time to time (see “Changes to This Privacy Policy” below), and we encourage you to review it periodically.

Information We Collect

Personal Data: We do not collect any personal information from you when you use Ads Assistant. Because our app does not require registration or login, you are never asked to provide data such as your name, email address, phone number, physical address, age, gender, payment information, or any other identifying information. Specifically, we do not collect any of the following from users:

  • Contact Information: We do not ask for or collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or social media login credentials.
  • Profile or Demographic Data: We do not collect age, gender, location, interests, or any profile details about you.
  • Content or Uploads: Our app does not allow you to upload personal content, and we do not access your Facebook posts, friends list, or any other personal Facebook data.
  • Device or Technical Data: We do not specifically collect device IDs, precise geolocation, or tracking identifiers from your device through our app. (Aside from basic technical information automatically transmitted by your browser, as described below.)

Public Advertising Data (Ads Library API): The only data our app accesses and processes is public advertising information available through Facebook’s Ads Library API. This data may include information about advertisements such as advertiser name, ad Ads Assistant (images/videos and text used in the ad), ad performance metrics, and other related public details that Facebook’s Ads Library provides. This data is not personal data of users; it is information about ads that are publicly available to anyone via Facebook’s transparency tools. We retrieve this information to present it to our users for analysis and inspiration purposes. We do not combine this advertising data with any information about individual users, and it’s not linked to you in any way.

Automatically Collected Technical Data: When you use Ads Assistant, certain minimal technical information may be automatically received by us or our hosting providers just by virtue of typical internet communications. This could include data like your IP address, browser type, device type, and usage timestamps. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not associate it with any personal data (since we collect none). Such technical data, if collected at all, is used solely for legitimate technical purposes like displaying the website properly, ensuring service security, or aggregating usage statistics (e.g., total visitor counts). We do not profile users or track your behavior across different sites or services.

How We Use Data

Since we do not collect personal user data, our use of data is very limited and geared entirely towards providing and improving the Ads Assistant service. Specifically, any data we handle is used for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Service: We use the public advertising data from Facebook’s Ads Library API to deliver our core functionality – allowing you to search and view competitor ads and generate ideas for your own campaigns. For example, when you search for an advertiser or keyword, our app fetches relevant ads from the Ads Library and displays them to you. We use this data solely to provide you with information and insights; we do not use it to infer anything about you personally.
  • Improving and Maintaining the App: We may use non-personal, aggregate information (such as overall usage patterns, feature usage frequency, error logs, etc.) to understand how Ads Assistant is used and to improve our features, user interface, and performance. For instance, knowing that a certain feature is popular in aggregate can guide us to enhance it. These analytics, if performed, are done without processing personal data and without tracking individual users. We do not use any third-party analytics services that collect your personal data, nor do we engage in any form of personalized advertising or profiling of users.
  • Customer Support and Communications: If you voluntarily contact us (for example, by sending an email for support or feedback), we will use any contact information and message content you provide only to respond to your inquiry or take action on your request. We will not use that information for any other purpose without your consent. (Note: Since our app itself does not require an account, this scenario only applies if you reach out to us proactively.)

We want to emphasize that we do not use any data for advertising targeting, marketing to you, or selling to others. We never use personal data (since we collect none) for purposes like behavioral advertising, and we don’t engage in data mining of user information. Our sole focus is enabling you to access and analyze public ads data easily, nothing more.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Ads Assistant is designed to respect your privacy, and as such we do not use any cookies or tracking technologies for advertising or analytics purposes on our app or website. We do not set cookies to collect personal information or to track you across other sites. Here is how we handle cookies and similar technologies:

  • Necessary Cookies: In general, our service does not require cookies for basic functionality. We do not use login sessions (since no account is needed), and we do not use cookies to remember preferences at this time. If our web application uses any cookies at all, it would be limited to purely technical cookies that are essential for the service to operate (for example, a cookie to remember a non-personal user preference or to keep track of a session state as you navigate the app). Such cookies, if used, would contain no personally identifying information.
  • No Analytics or Advertising Cookies: We do not use Google Analytics or similar analytics trackers that set cookies, and we do not serve advertisements through our app, so no advertising cookies or pixels (such as Facebook Pixel) are present. You will not encounter third-party tracking beacons, social media “like” buttons, or other trackers on Ads Assistant.
  • Do Not Track Signals: Because we do not engage in user tracking, our site is essentially aligned with “Do Not Track” (DNT) principles. If your browser transmits a DNT signal, we don’t alter any behavior because we already do not profile or track users’ activities on our site or across other sites.

If in the future we decide to implement additional features that involve cookies or tracking (for example, to remember user settings or gather anonymous usage analytics), we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and, if required by law, seek your consent. But as of the effective date above, Ads Assistant uses no tracking cookies and only minimal functional cookies (if any at all).

Data Sharing and Disclosure

Your privacy is important to us, and we want to be very clear: We do not share any personal user data with third parties. In fact, since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal information to share or disclose. We do not sell, rent, or trade any user information to anyone for any purpose. This includes not sharing data with advertisers, marketing companies, or data brokers. You will not find Ads Assistant transferring your information for commercial gain — we simply don’t have any of your personal info to begin with.

The data we do handle (public Ads Library data) is retrieved from Facebook and presented to you. We do not provide this data onward to any external party except displaying it to you within the app for your own use. We may share aggregated, non-personal insights (for example, total number of users in a given month, general usage trends, etc.) with others or publicly to illustrate the usage of our app or in discussions with partners. However, such aggregate information will never include any personal data or anything that can identify any individual user.

Service Providers: We operate Ads Assistant with the help of standard infrastructure and tools (for example, web hosting providers or cloud services that run our application). It’s possible that, in providing their services (e.g., our web host processing network requests), these third parties might incidentally handle technical data (like IP addresses or server logs) on our behalf. These service providers are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations and are not permitted to use any data they process for their own purposes. They only process data as needed to provide infrastructure to run Ads Assistant (for example, serving the webpages to you or ensuring the app runs smoothly). Such processing does not involve any personal user profiles or user-provided data in our case. We do not use any service provider that collects personal information from our users for its own use.

Legal Compliance: In the unlikely event that we are required by law or a legal process (such as a court order, subpoena, or government demand) to disclose certain information, we will comply with applicable law. However, since we do not store personal user data, the extent of information we could provide is very limited. We might only be able to provide technical logs or records if required for security or legal compliance purposes. If we ever receive such a request, we will attempt to redirect the requesting party to obtain the required data from the relevant source (for example, Facebook’s records) whenever legally appropriate. We are committed to notifying users if applicable law allows us to do so, in the event any personal information is ever involved in such a request.

Data Retention and Security

Because Ads Assistant does not collect personal user data, we do not maintain any personal data records that would require long-term retention. Any non-personal data (such as cached Ads Library results or aggregate usage metrics) is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this Policy. For instance, we might cache public ad data to improve app performance, but this cache does not contain your personal info and is regularly refreshed or purged. If you contact us directly (e.g., via email for support), we may retain your communication and contact details only for as long as needed to address your inquiry or as required by law, after which we will delete that correspondence.

We take data security seriously, even though we handle virtually no personal data. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information on our systems (including the public ad data we retrieve and any communications you send us) from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include access controls to our databases and systems, using secure protocols (HTTPS) for data transmission between our app and your browser, and keeping our software and infrastructure updated with security patches. Additionally, any service providers we use (such as hosting platforms) are reputable and employ their own security safeguards.

It’s important to note that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, but because we do not store sensitive personal information, the risks to you are greatly minimized. In the event of any security incident involving your data (for example, a breach of a support contact email list), we would promptly notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable laws.

Your Rights and Choices

Even though Ads Assistant does not collect personal data in the ordinary course of operation, we are committed to upholding the principles of data protection and giving you control over any information that may relate to you. Below, we outline your rights and choices regarding data, and how we accommodate them:

  • Access and Transparency: You have the right to know whether we have any personal information about you. Because we deliberately do not gather personal data from users, in most cases our answer will be that we do not have any such data. If you have ever communicated with us or suspect that we might hold some minimal personal information (for example, an email inquiry or feedback you provided), you may request that we confirm what information we have about you (if any) and for what purpose. We will provide you with as much information as we are legally required to, in a transparent manner.
  • Correction: Since we do not maintain user profiles or personal records, there is generally nothing to correct. However, if you believe we hold incorrect information about you (perhaps in a correspondence), you have the right to request that we correct it. We will honor such requests where applicable.
  • Deletion (Right to Erasure): You have the right to request deletion of any personal data we might hold about you. Again, we emphasize that we do not store personal user data through the app’s normal use. If, however, you have engaged with us in a way that resulted in us holding any information about you (for example, you emailed us and your name or email is in our inbox, or you provided some content or suggestions through the app), you can ask us to delete that information. Users may request deletion of any of their interactions or content by writing to us, and we will promptly erase the data from our records (unless we are required to keep it for legal reasons). For example, if you had saved a list of favorite ads within the app (and that feature stores data on our side, if at all), or if you requested some analysis and provided input, you can ask us to remove those saved interactions completely.
  • Objection and Restriction: Since we don’t process your personal data for any marketing or profiling, you would not need to object to such usage. If you have concerns about how we handle data (even non-personal data), you have the right to object or request restriction of processing. For instance, if in the future we introduced a feature that involved some personal data processing, you could object to that. We will consider such objections and honor them if applicable under the law.
  • Portability: This right allows you to request a copy of personal data you provided to us in a machine-readable format, or to have it transmitted to another controller. Given that we do not collect or store your personal data through the normal use of our service, there is no data to port. If you did provide us with information (say, via a support email), and you want a copy of that correspondence, you can request it and we will provide it to you.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: We do not generally process data based on consent (since we don’t collect data), but if at any point you have given us consent for something (for example, if you consented to share your email for updates or you gave permission to use some content you provided), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we carried out previously, and of course, since we typically don’t do any such processing, withdrawing consent will mostly mean we simply stop the limited use of your information (like removing your email from a mailing list, if we had one).
  • Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against any user for exercising their privacy rights. Because we don’t offer differentiated service levels or pricing (the app is simply available to all equally), you won’t be denied service or charged differently as a result of making any data-related request. We treat all users fairly regardless of whether they’ve made requests concerning their data.

To exercise any of your rights or if you have questions about your privacy when using Ads Assistant, you can contact us at any time (see Contact Us at the end of this Policy). We will respond to your requests as soon as possible and in accordance with applicable data protection laws. In some cases, we may ask you to verify your identity if you’re requesting information about any data (to ensure we do not give information to the wrong person), but since we typically don’t hold personal data, verification might simply involve confirming that you are the owner of an email address that contacted us, etc.

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data (GDPR)

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (and equivalent laws in the United Kingdom and EEA countries) requires that we inform you of the legal bases we rely on to process any personal data, if such processing occurs. Ads Assistant’s core principle is to avoid processing personal data wherever possible, and as such, in the ordinary use of our service we do not process any personal data about users. This means that for most user interactions, GDPR does not apply because we have no personal data to handle. However, to the extent that we might process personal data in specific scenarios (such as when you contact us or if any personal data is incidentally processed), we want to be transparent about our legal justification:

  • Consent: In situations where you have actively provided us with information and consented to its use, we rely on your consent as the legal basis. For example, if you email us for support, we interpret that as consent to use your email address and the information you provide in order to respond to you. You always maintain the right to withdraw consent (see Your Rights above).
  • Legitimate Interests: We may process minimal personal data if it’s necessary for our legitimate interests, provided those interests are not overridden by your data protection rights. Our legitimate interests include: maintaining the security and functionality of Ads Assistant, improving our product, and communicating with users who reach out to us. For instance, keeping transient server logs (which might include IP addresses) to secure our service or detect abuse would be based on our legitimate interest in safeguarding the platform. We ensure that any such processing is minimally invasive and does not infringe on your rights – for example, we do not use logging data to profile users or track your behavior.
  • Legal Obligation: If we are required by law to retain or disclose certain information (e.g., a court order to retain server logs or to provide information for legal compliance), our processing of any personal data in that context would be based on compliance with a legal obligation. We will only do so to the extent required by law.

It’s worth re-emphasizing that these legal bases are mentioned here in an abundance of caution. Ads Assistant’s normal operations involve no personal data collection or processing of users’ information. If you are an EU/EEA/UK user, you should know that we have designed this app with privacy in mind to avoid needing any personal data from you. If you have any questions or concerns about GDPR and your privacy in relation to Ads Assistant, feel free to contact us, and we will be happy to clarify any point.

Additionally, under GDPR, we act as the “data controller” for any personal data related to Ads Assistant (meaning we determine how and why any such data is processed). However, given that we generally do not have user personal data, our duties as a controller are minimal. If we ever significantly change our data practices, we will update this Policy and, if required, seek new consent or provide notice to ensure continued compliance with GDPR.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a resident of California, you are protected by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) of 2020. These laws provide specific rights regarding your personal information. Ads Assistant is committed to extending these rights and ensuring transparency for California users. Below we outline the information required by CCPA and your rights under this law:

Categories of Personal Information Collected: Under the CCPA, we are required to inform you of the categories of personal information we collect and the purposes for which we use them. As detailed throughout this Policy, Ads Assistant does not collect any personal information from its users. In the past 12 months, we have not collected any personal information that falls into the categories defined by the CCPA (such as identifiers like real name, email, or IP address; characteristics of protected classifications; commercial information; internet or network activity; geolocation data; professional or employment information; education information; biometric information; or inferences drawn from any personal information). The only information we handle is public advertising data (not linked to an individual) and basic technical usage data as described earlier. Therefore, many of the typical CCPA disclosure categories are not applicable in our case.

Categories of Personal Information Sold or Shared: We are also required to inform you if we “sell” or “share” (for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes) any personal information. Ads Assistant does not sell or share personal information. We have not sold any personal data in the last 12 months, and we do not disclose personal information to third parties for business or commercial purposes, except as strictly necessary for our service operation (and even then, that’s limited to service providers handling technical data as described under Data Sharing, not personal info about users). Since we collect no personal info, there is nothing to sell or share. Consequently, we do not offer a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link, because there is no data exchange happening that would trigger that right – by default, we respect that preference by never engaging in such activity.

Business Purposes for Collection/Use: The purposes for which we use information are explained in How We Use Data above. None of those involve personal data for California residents. If any personal data were involved (for example, if you contacted us and we used your email to respond), the purpose is strictly to provide the service or support you, not for secondary uses.

California Consumer Rights: The CCPA provides California residents with several specific rights regarding their personal information:

  • Right to Know: You have the right to request that we disclose to you what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, or sold about you in the past 12 months. Because we do not collect personal info from users, typically we would respond that we have no data about you. If you submit a verifiable consumer request for information, we will check our records (which likely contain nothing personal) and confirm that to you, or provide any specific pieces of personal info we might have (for instance, if you had emailed us, we could provide a copy of that email from our records).
  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request that we delete any personal information we may have collected from you. As noted, we generally do not have such data. However, if you believe we have some personal information (perhaps through a support interaction), you can send us a deletion request. Once we receive and confirm a verifiable request from you, we will delete (and direct any service providers to delete) your personal information, unless an exception applies (for example, if we are legally required to keep a record of a transaction, though in our case that’s unlikely). We will confirm once the deletion is completed.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: CCPA gives you the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal info or the sharing of it for targeted advertising. Ads Assistant does not sell or share any personal information, so this right is effectively already honored by default. We don’t have any processes that trade your data, so there is no separate opt-out mechanism required.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. That means if you make a request under CCPA, we will not deny you our services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality just because you exercised your privacy rights. Our service is free and uniform for all users, and making a privacy request will have no negative effect on your experience.
  • Right to Correct (CPRA addition): With the CPRA amendments, California residents also have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information. Again, since we do not maintain personal data, this is generally not applicable — there’s nothing in our systems about you that could be inaccurate. But if you believe we hold any information about you and that it’s incorrect, you can request a correction and we will certainly address it if applicable.

How to Exercise Your California Rights: If you are a California resident and wish to exercise any of the above rights, you or your authorized agent can contact us as described in the Contact Us section below. Please specify that you are making a “California privacy request” and clearly indicate what you are requesting (access to data, deletion, etc.). We may need to ask you for certain information to verify your identity (for example, confirming control of an email account or other basic verification), just to ensure that we do not disclose information to someone impersonating you. We will respond to your request within the time frames required by the CCPA/CPRA (generally within 45 days, with an extension of 45 more days if needed and with notice to you). As explained, in most cases our response will be straightforward because we simply do not have personal data on our users, but we are prepared to honor the law’s requirements in full.

Children’s Privacy

Ads Assistant is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. In fact, our no-data-collection approach means we do not knowingly collect data from any user, including children. If you are under 13, please do not use Ads Assistant or provide any information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 (for example, if a child sends us a support email including personal details), we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our records.

For parents or guardians: If you discover that your child under 13 has used our app and provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately (see Contact Us below). We will work with you to remove any data and address any concerns. We also encourage you to talk with your children about online safety and privacy, and to monitor their internet usage.

Although the Ads Assistant app does not target minors and is not likely of interest to young children (as it deals with advertising strategy), we still want to ensure compliance with laws like the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and similar regulations around the world. For teens aged 13-18: We advise using our app with parental consent and guidance, as with any online service.

Third-Party Links and Content

Our application may contain links to third-party websites or services. For example, when viewing an advertisement through Ads Assistant, you might have the option to click a link that takes you to the advertiser’s Facebook page or to the original ad in Facebook’s Ad Library website. Additionally, our website or documentation might link to external resources (such as Facebook’s policies or advertising guidelines for reference).

Please be aware that this Privacy Policy applies solely to Ads Assistant and our handling of data. Once you click a third-party link or navigate to an external site, you will be interacting with a platform that is not operated by us. We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or terms of those external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites or services you visit. We are not responsible for the privacy or data security practices of other websites, even if you access them through links from our app.

In particular, if you follow a link to Facebook or any advertiser’s page from within our app, note that any data Facebook collects or any interactions you have on their platform are governed by Facebook’s own privacy policy and terms of service. Ads Assistant does not share any of your information with these sites, and our inclusion of a link does not imply an endorsement of their privacy policy. It’s simply provided for your convenience in accessing more information about an ad or advertiser.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app evolves or as privacy laws and regulations change. If we make material changes to how we handle your data or to the policies stated here, we will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy. In case of significant changes, we may also provide a more prominent notice (such as a banner on our website or an announcement via social media or the app) to inform you of the update.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of Ads Assistant after any changes to this Policy will signify your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree with the revised terms, please discontinue use of the app.

Since Ads Assistant is currently in development and will be launching on the Facebook platform, we are especially attentive to privacy considerations. Any new features or data practices introduced during development or after launch will be reflected in an updated Privacy Policy. Rest assured that our default stance is to maintain our no-personal-data approach unless it becomes absolutely necessary to collect something to provide a new functionality (and even then, we will seek ways to do it anonymously or with full user consent).
